Thinking of becoming Catholic?
Or looking to complete your Sacraments of Initiation?
If you are, then the RCIA is for you. RCIA stands for the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. It is for those who have never been baptized, for those baptized in another faith, or for those who wish to complete their initiation into the Church by celebrating the Sacraments of Eucharist and Confirmation.
The RCIA will be meeting on various dates.
Many Catholic topics, especially the seven sacraments are discussed each week during the 1 1/4 hour class.
Please call Amanda Brewer in the Religious Education Office, (248) 879 –1314 if you have any questions and to sign up.
A List of Frequently Asked Questions about R.C.I.A.
For whom is the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults intended?
Perhaps you or someone you know - a spouse, fiancé, relative, friend, colleague - is considering becoming Catholic, but is unsure how to get started. Sometimes, members of a family were baptized into the Catholic faith as infants, but were never catechized beyond this point and now have reached adulthood and desire to grow in knowledge about their faith, and to complete their initiation into the Catholic Church - the R.C.I.A. is also for these individuals.
What is the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults?
In general, the R.C.I.A. is a process of conversion. It is divided into four continuous phases that correspond to the catechumen's (those seeking Baptism) or the candidate's (those already Baptized) progress in Christian faith formation. The R.C.I.A. has six underlying principles:
How do I inquire into the R.C.I.A.?
I invite you, in the name of the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Community, to contact the Parish Office if you are considering the journey of faith provided to you by joining the R.C.I.A. Between the months of July - early September, please give Mrs. Terri Konwinski, the R.C.I.A. Coordinator, a call to set up an appointment to discuss with you how the parish can assist you with seeking membership into the Catholic Church. This initial meeting is called an inquiry session because it is an opportunity to inquire about R.C.I.A. and to consider if this is the time you would like to join the R.C.I.A. There is a registration form which is part of this meeting. This is usually a one-to-one meeting with the R.C.I.A. Coordinator and will take about 45 minutes. It is an essential step to beginning the R.C.I.A. Process.
