Parish Faith Formation Changes for the 2020 - 2021 season
Update 1/24/2021:
Will We Return to In Person Learning?
Both Troy and Avondale Schools have plans in place to return to ‘in person learning' in the next few weeks. Troy revisits in person learning on January 21st and Avondale on February18th.
We have been providing a completely virtual learning experience for our Elementary and Middle School students here at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. Our plan is continue with virtual learning, through the end of February, watch how the return to in person learning goes, and allow for more people to be vaccinated before we return to in person.
We are hopeful we will be able to begin in person learning at the beginning of March. Our first consideration is the safety and well being of our students and catechists.
Thank you for your patience as we move through this trying year.
September 20th will mark the 49th Catechetical Sunday, designated by The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. This year’s theme, “I received from the Lord what I also handed on to you” is incredibly applicable to the scenario we currently find ourselves in. Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, the way we approach Faith Formation for the upcoming year, for youth as well as adults, will have some necessary changes.
For our 1st through 8th grade students, we will be offering online instruction for the first semester, October – December. You will receive your student’s grade level book, as well as an online registration, so you can provide instruction to your student at home. Your child’s catechist will provide the syllabus, as well as additional support through Zoom, email, or phone call. We will be revisiting the option of ‘in person’ teaching over the Christmas break. Our hope is to return to ‘in person’ for the second semester.
