THIS MAY BE THE MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU DO FOR THE FUTURE OF OUR CHURCH
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
In the past several months, the Archdiocese of Detroit has begun an effort to renew and invigorate the Catholics of the Diocese through the 2016 Synod and its subsequent vision of a transformed community of faith, Unleash the Gospel. Archbishop Allen Vigneron has asked that every parish revision itself as a missionary church and not just a parish maintaining itself along ways that it has, usually the same programs year after year. In the near future, the Archbishop is asking every church in the Archdiocese to submit a pastoral plan for the future that reflects the impact of Synod 2016 and the subsequent pastoral letter “Unleash the Gospel”. The Archbishop is challenging us to come up with a vision for our future which is not based on a model of maintaining the church programs as they are, but a dynamic mission model that invites our current faith community to be engaged in our pastoral plan that is a new vision of who we are here at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton.
In order to prepare ourselves to engage in this important faith based project we are having a foundational town hall meeting to give us the authentic teaching of the Church and the model used by the Apostles to bring the people of their time into the life of Christ and the dynamic joy and courage of the early church. Our Town Hall meeting will take place on Sunday, May 5th from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. We are honored to have as our speaker the Reverend John Riccardo, current Pastor of Our Lady of Good Council Parish and host of the “Christ is the Answer” program on Ave Maria Radio. Fr. Riccardo’s subject matter will be the Kerygma, the fundamental teaching of the Catholic Church, the foundations of every pastoral plan.
Because Fr. John is so well known in the Archdiocese, we are limiting participation to the parishioners of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton only. Tickets are available in the Parish Office for this important and dynamic experience of our life in faith. Be a part of the future life and ministry of our beloved St. Elizabeth Ann Seton parish. Prepare yourself to be a living building block in the future of this faith community; help us to dream as the prophet Jeremiah predicted “your young will dream dreams and your old will have visions.”
