TRIVIA NIGHT
MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 26, 2022
7:00 PM
IN THE SOCIAL HALL
“Never stop learning” is a life lesson that we try to instill in our children and yet as adults we often fall into the trap that we know enough. This is especially true when it comes to our Catholic education. We are confirmed and “fully educated” at an eighth grade level. It is our responsibility to make our religious education a lifelong activity. Here at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton we offer continuing education under the term “Adult Formation”. One of these offerings is Merlot with the Messiah. On the last Monday of the month we get together for a low key, no pressure, facilitated discussion on a selected topic. The last few years we have sponsored a trivia night. As a lead in to our fall start up we will be asking some of these trivia questions that every Catholic should know. Ponder the questions and discuss them with your family. See how well you do. If you see room for improvement perhaps spending time with the formation opportunities are in order. After all knowledge is power!
1. In a standard Rosary, on how many beads would you pray the Hail Mary?
53. Fifty in the decades and three in the prelude.
2. Who does the Church consider the first martyrs for Christ?
The Holy Innocents. The baby boys that were killed in place of Jesus in Bethlehem by Herod. St. Stephen is considered the first Christian martyr or first martyr of the Church but there were no Christians or Church until Pentecost. St. Stephen is the first martyr after Pentecost.

Merlot with the Messiah
Monday, September 27th, 2021
7:00 pm
It is that time of year again. It is a time of pumpkin lattes, cider, and decreasing daylight but more importantly the time for the call of the school bell. Everyone has a obligation to themselves to answer that call in some way. Here at St Elizabeth Ann Seton one of the educational opportunities offered is Merlot With The Messiah. We meet the last Monday of the month at 7 pm to enjoy a glass of wine and have an informational discussion on a selected topic. Over the years our most popular discussions have been on the history of our faith.
With that in mind we approach our topics for this fall:
September 27 - The History of the Catholic Church in the United States.
October 25 - The History of the Catholic Church in Michigan.
December 6 - The Movement of the Apostles.
We are revisiting our past discussion on the apostles for two reasons:
It is a topic that we have had several requests to repeat and it is a lead in to the new formation series that will be offered here at SEAS starting in January - we will be viewing and discussing season one of The Chosen. Watch the Bulletin and Website for more information on this inspiring series.
Merlot with the Messiah is in session for 2021, again applying social distancing and mask wearing for our in-person session. Attending via Zoom is also available.

Our next session of Merlot with the Messiah will be on Holy Monday. In honor of the day, we will walk with Jesus through his activities not just on Monday, but throughout the week. We all know what happened on Sunday and we have a good handle on Thursday and Friday but what about the other days of that fateful week? The Bible does tell us. In fact, a significant part of Jesus's teachings that are recorded in the gospels are recorded from this time period. Come in person or online and find out why each day is called holy, not just Holy Thursday and Good Friday.
