Altar Servers for Mass
Those who have recieved First Holy Communion and are in the fourth grade or above are eligible to become altar servers. Servers are trained prior to being placed on the schedule.
Sacristans
The responsibility of the Sacristan is to prepare the Sacred Vessel and unconsecrated elements prior to the celbration of Mass.
Adult Altar Servers for Funerals
An adult member of the parish assists the celebrant at funeral liturgies since younger servers are generally not available during the day and becasue incense is used. Volunteers will be trained.
A team of men and women who use their artistic talents and abilities to enhance our worship environment. Projects include decorating the church for Christmas, Holy Week, Easter and other celebrations.
Laudering Altar Linens
Wash and iron linens used for Sunday and weekday Masses
Baptism Assistant
An adult member of the parish who assists the celebrant and the family before and during the Baptism ceremony, which we celebrate after weekend liturgies.
Wake Service Leader
Men and women of the parish who provide the scripture service and/or rosary at the night of vigil at the Funeral Home. Volunteers will be trained.
During the Liturgy of the Eucharist, the extraordinary ministers assist with the smooth distribution of Holy Communion. In addition, ministers participate in the presentation of the gifts, and clean the vessles after Mass. Once minister, the Preparer of the table (PT), set the vessels on the vessels on the altar during the Offertory.
Often erroneously called "Eucharistic Ministers" (a term used by the Anglican Church for this ministry, whereas in Roman Catholicism only the Priest may be the Eucharistic Minister), the Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMs or EMHCs) are laity who aid the Priest in giving out the Eucharistic bread and wine at Mass.
Leading the Rosary
A 2 person team usually leads the rosary at two local nursing homes once a week. One nursing home has rosary at 10:00 am on Mondays, and the other is at 11:15 am on Tuesdays
Communion Service
Home visitors attend living facilities, nursing home and group home in the Troy area. There are teams of 2-4 people that conduct communion service for the residents of these establishments. Service are held at specific locations on Sunday mornings and Thursday mornings. This commitment involves one visit per month.
Commentators
The role of the Commentator is to welcome the assembly and read the Prayers of the Faithful. The commentator collects names of presiders, altar servers, and lectors to include in the welcome assembly.
Lector
The are two lectors during Mass. Both lectors process in and out at the beginning and end of Mass, respectively.
Lector 1: Processes in, proclains the first reading and processes out after Mass.
Lector 2: Processes in, proclaims the second reading and processes out after Mass.
We have six teams of Ministers that rotates on an even and odd month schedule, so you are only on duty every other month. You can choose to work at the Mass you attend on a regular basis.
The Ministers of Welcome greet parishioners as they arrive at church, assist with seating, collect the community's offerings, provide a head count for the sacristans and office, and distribute bulletins after Mass. Following each liturgy, a general checkup is done through the church making sure it is in good order for the enxt service.
Total time commitment is 15 minutes before and approximately 10 minutes after each Mass.
Ministers consist of six teams (three of which work any month, onw at each Mass), and rotate between even and odd months. Two members are trained in CPR and AED as certified by the Red Cross. Volunteers signing up for this ministry may choose for which Mass they will work.
All are invited to be part of the Music Ministry at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton, whether during regular weekend Mass or special occasions (Holy Days and funerals in particular). All time and talent given in this service witness Christ's love to the people of God. Schedules are flexible and all elvels of commitment are welcome.
Choir
Our Parish Choir rehearses most Wedndesday, 7:00- 8:30pm, September through May. The choir sings at the 9:00 am Mass on Sundy as well as the Holy Day Masses. Any level of commitment is welcomed and no experience is necessary. All High School students and adults who love to sing should apply
Instrumentalists
Our musicians help to lead our faith community in song. Our liturgical music is always enhance by instrumental accompaniments. Your musical gifrs offered to our worshipping community are a blessed to us all. Several rehearsals, to assis in building musical skills, will be schedule throughout the liturgical year.
Resurrection Choir
Our Resurrection Choir leads the gathered assembly in celebrating the Mass of Resurrection. No experience is necessary! All are welcome! Funerals are usually in the morning between 9:00 and 11:00 am. We ask that you arrive thirty minutes prior to Mass to rehearse and prepare for the Liturgy with the Music Minister.
