On March 13th, Archbishop Vigneron made the decision to suspend all Masses in the Archdiocese of Detroit, including St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, to keep our communities safe. However, this can leave many of us feeling disconnected from something we need now more than ever - being close to Jesus. Below are a few ways to stay close to the Lord during this time.
It has long been a Catholic understanding that when it is not possible to go to Mass and receive Holy Communion, it is possible to make an Act of Spiritual Communion which is a source of grace. Spiritual Communion means uniting one’s self in prayer with Christ’s sacrifice and worshipping Him in His Body and Blood.
A prayer for Spiritual Communion
My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love you above all things and desire to receive you in my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive you sacramentally,
Come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace you as if you were already there
And unite myself wholly to you. Amen.
While we are unable to gather together as a parish to attend Mass during the Coronavirus quarantine, Fr. Norm and Fr. Rich are providing us a way to participate in Mass through weekly online recorded Mass, available on our YouTube channel: Saint LizAnn at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6UJXb7NfhMogdTGmGVcbfA
The Archdiocese of Detroit is continuing to provide weekend Mass and daily Masses at aod.org/livemasses.
