Bible Study on the Historical Books of 1&2 Samuel, 1&2 Kings, Ezra, Nehemiah and 1&2 Maccabees Join us for this 10 week bible study on the Historical books of 1&2 Samuel, 1&2 Kings, Ezra, Nehemiah, and 1&2 Maccabees. • 1&2 Samuel describes the transition from the age of Judges to the beginning of the monarchy in Israel, including the royal dynasty of King David. • 1&2 Kings details the last days of King David to the fall of Jerusalem and Israel’s exile because of their unfaithfulness to Yahweh. • Ezra and Nehemiah together explain the period of restoration and the reorganization of Jewish life. • 1&2 Maccabees describe how the Jews revolted against the Seleucid kings who were persecuting them during the 2nd century B.C. 2 Maccabees also contains teachings on the resurrection from the dead, intercession of the saints, and prayer for the dead. Together, these books frame about 1000 years of history. They anticipate and prepare for the coming of Jesus, the Son of David and the promised Messiah, who brings prophesy’s to fulfillment and holiness to perfection.
