WHAT IS A RELIC?
Relics are physical objects that have direct association with a Saint or our Lord. God chooses to use relics of Saints to work healing and miracles as well as to turn our attention to Saints as models and witnesses.
WHAT WILL THE RELIC OF BLESSED SOLANUS CASEY LOOK LIKE?
The first-class relic of Blessed Solanus Casey is a bone from his index finger. It is kept in a beautiful monstrance and will be visible through a glass window.
DO WE HAVE ANY OTHER RELICS HERE AT ST. ELIZABETH ANN SETON?
The short answer is Yes. Every church has a saints first class relic encased somewhere in the Church - usually within the Altar. Here at St. Elizabeth we have a larger first class relic (a section of one of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton’s bones) encased in the floor of the center entryway into the Church from the Gathering Space. We also have smaller bone fragments in a glass case near her statue in the Gathering Space. Father Norm also has quite an extensive personal collection of first class relics.
